Join Alex in Whitefish, Montana for in-person workshops focused on bringing your photography, brand, and business to the next level. The dates for the series of workshops will be released soon!
Alex will dive deep in his mindset to level-up your photography business. You’ll have the chance to sit down for a one-on-one mentorship session with Alex, to pick his brain and get answers to those burning questions.
You’ll join Alex on location at two of his favorite spots to photograph in. With Alex by your side, you’ll have the opportunity to take what you’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to the real world.
This retreat has better delivered how to conceptualize, pitch, shoot and deliver a commercial project than any workshop I've ever taken. Alex's online workshops have been world class and it's what has kept me coming back for every single one, but the in-person Montana retreat I just finished with an intimate group of 9 other brilliant photographers takes it to an entirely different level. Nothing is left on the table and you walk side-by-side with Alex reviewing methodologies in the classroom and immediately going into the field to apply them. The amount of detailed critique, feedback, and learning you get from Alex and your peers is something so understated in an industry where we all too often don't share deep insights or lessons learned when it comes to commercial photography, art directing, social media, and working with large corporations on large-budget projects. We aren't talking about a workshop where a bunch of theoretical ideas get thrown at you, this is a soup to nuts look at your work where you truly have to put in the effort to deliver a product during a workshop to be reviewed by Alex and peers. Absolutely priceless and outstanding workshop Strohl Works team! Had so much fun with you all :)
The Strohl Works team planned a highly-informative, action-packed retreat that I would 100% recommend attending. The attention to detail was meticulous, and I not only learned a ton but had a blast—a tough combo to pull off. The hiking was second-to-none, the friendships will last for years to come (along with a few nicknames people won’t live down), and I couldn’t be happier with the life/career hacks and photography insights Alex shared. Thank you again for having me!
This workshop provided me with the value and skills to take my photography career and business to the next level. I was blown away by the curriculum and the material presented day in and day out as well as the interactive/commercial field day shoots. I wanted this workshop to be the stepping stone into the business world and to hone in my skills and I can honestly say it was exactly what I asked for. The entire team at Strohl Works were amazing and took great care of us treating us like family the entire time. The other 9 individuals that were on the retreat became lifelong friends and I was even able to learn from them adding even more value to the workshop. I really can’t say enough great things about this experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone in the future, especially if you’re ready to take that leap and push your photography to the next level. This retreat changed my life and I’m so stoked for what all I can do moving forward.
The Montana Workshop pushed me beyond what I thought were my creative boundaries and opened my eyes to what seeing through a lens could be. The Strohl Works team created the perfect balance of deep classroom discussions and wild adventures in Glacier National Park. Alex made the time to push each one of us to dive deeper into how to tell a story with our images, and how to be intentional with every choice we made. His insights into the business side of photography were also incredibly invaluable. We quickly became a tight knit family, and I will always treasure the friendships I created with the other participants both personally and professionally. I could not recommend this workshop more!
I attended the Strohl.Works Montana retreat because I knew that it would help me take my photography business to the next level. Alex and his studio team did an incredible job at providing quality content and amazing outdoor shooting experiences. The class assignments were challenging, fun and helped me grow as a photographer. Alex has a unique and effective approach to teaching that was both refreshing and inspiring. I am excited to take what I learned and apply it to my life and photography business. I strongly recommend this retreat for anyone who is looking to transform their photography career.
If I had to sum up the entire experience with Alex and his team in a couple sentences, I’d say that it was the best thing I have done for my career as a photographer to date. For reference, I have enrolled in a number of his online workshops and this retreat was infinitely more valuable to me as a creator. Unfortunately, that doesn’t really do it Justice. So here’s what made it worth the trip.
First of all, every minute we were in the studio was spent learning actionable information. Literally everything was covered. Day-to-day business, visionary goal setting, social media longevity, marketing, pitching brands, hiking the right way, making good coffee, and so much more. It was all there for the taking.
During breaks, car rides, the different hikes, and all the times in between, I got to know Alex and his team a little better. To me this was a HUGE deal! The fact that Alex is so successful really intimidated me up to the moment we met. While he is both successful and popular, he is also super down to earth, intentional about everything, and confident in his work. That confidence rubs off. Then there’s the rest of the gang. Everyone communicated well with each other and made the entire trip run smoothly, despite there being a few hiccoughs.
Unsurprisingly, there was a bit of bad weather that caused us to switch up the itinerary. Luckily, this was not a huge deal and the situation was taken in stride with no value lost. Everything was handled decisively and professionally.
Traveling to Montana has been my favorite experience of all this summer and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Alex under promised and over delivered! The hikes were breathtaking, new friendships genuine, and every morsel of knowledge priceless.
I’ve been a big fan of Alex Strohl’s work for many years, following his journey on social and eventually became a devoted student of his online workshops, so when Montana workshop was announced I immediately applied. I was excited to be selected out of many other applicants to participate and learn from him directly together with another 9 fellow photographers from every corner of the States and the world. The participation fee was steep for me, but I knew it will be worth it, and I will learn so much and Alex created something special for us. And of course I was not disappointed. The crew organized the workshop that we had class training, informal interactions and practice in the field. As a result we had a few assignments that were both challenging and fun. The best part was hiking with Strohl.Works team in the Glacier National park that is the amazing playground for any outdoors photographer. We were challenged to keep up with Alex and the crew on the hiking trails, and at the same time I think everyone has remembered those moments as the most creative and eye-opening. I think the group was selected very wisely and included members of different backgrounds and styles, so we all learned from each other and bonded like friends. The schedule was tight and sharp so it felt more like a boot camp rather than retreat, but it’s probably just my laziness speaking. I highly recommend the next workshops to anyone who wants to ramp up their photo skills, find new lifetime friendships and create unforgettable memories. As a bonus you’ll get to taste the best cortado in Montana.
