Our Basecamp

Our basecamp is a cozy waterfront cabin village tucked into a quiet fjord at the edge of the sea in Lofoten. Once a historic fishing outpost, Nusfjord Arctic Resort has been transformed into a thoughtfully preserved outpost that blends Arctic character with modern comfort. It offers the perfect place to reset after long days chasing light across the mountains and coastline.

We’ll have access to a shared indoor space for group teaching sessions, image reviews, and late-night editing sessions. Just outside your cabin door, the sound of seagulls and lapping water sets the tone, while surrounding peaks and coastal trails are just minutes away. The calm, remote setting allows us to stay deeply connected to the surrounding landscape while returning each evening to warmth, good food, and a creative rhythm. The sauna and wood-fired hot tub are a bonus as well.

What is the Lofoten retreat?

The Lofoten retreat is a 5-day/6-night adventure photography course set in one of world’s most striking landscapes. Alongside other like-minded photographers, Alex will personally guide you to many of the lesser know locations they have explored over the years. A series of unique shoot opportunities has also been coordinated with local farmers and artisans, giving you exclusive access and insights you wouldn’t get otherwise.

Taking place in mid September - the sweet spot between ideal weather and fewer crowds - this retreat offers long daylight hours and a beautiful mix of mountain and sea landscapes. Lofoten’s jagged peaks, Arctic beaches, and winding fjords offer a stunning canvas with dynamic light and striking scenes. With long summer days, it's the perfect place to experience and photograph Norway’s wild beauty at its most dramatic.

What will I learn?

This retreat is all about creating strong portfolio work that sets you apart. Thanks to our intimate knowledge of the area, we are able to go to best locations at the right time, and organizing talent to photograph that you would never be able to source on your own.

The retreat is designed to leave you feeling inspired and hungry about all the photography possibilities near your home. You will learn how to:

With all of the details taken care of you get to sit back and enjoy, taking time in a peaceful environment to digest all of the learnings from the retreat.

Norwegian Cuisine…

Arctic gastronomy at its finest, framed in majestic natural surroundings. We selected Nusfjord largely for their dining experiences. You'll enjoy an exceptional dining that is curated by their esteemed chef and experience food featuring ingredients from local farms and fishermen. The thoughtfully prepared meals will be served family style around a shared farm table, creating the perfect setting for the group to connect and get to know each other better.

Cortado O’clock

As with any of our retreats, you can expect the highest level of coffee experience — both espresso and slow bar will be available at different times of the day to unwind or to learn how to pull your first shot.
